Two years ago, I gave up cigarette smoking. I didn't really plan to. It just seemed to work out that way. In the back of my mind, I alway knew that it was a habit that just wasn't good for ones long term health. My wife and kids were constantly on me to quit. Taking periodic smoke breaks outside at work in the winter wasn't much fun and I guess I didn't like being captive to the habit any longer. So, one day while watching a baseball game on T.V.with a neighbor in his garage , I smoked the last cigarette I had. The next morning , instead of stopping at the local gas station for a new pack of smokes, as was my habit. I just drove by and continued on my way to work and have not had another cigarette since nor have I had any prolonged desire to , Now I am not going to tell you quitting was easy but, I did not find it as difficult as some of the horror stories I've heard others tell of in their quests to give up the habit.
I have always liked a cigar now and then but, found cigar smoking to be inconvenient and a time commitment I wasn't willing to make. However, several months ago, I took up the hobby as I like to call it and have discovered I rather enjoy cigars. Sometimes while driving, while walking the dog, mowing the lawn or watching some sporting event with a neighbor in the garage. There is much to like about them. The aroma, flavor, look, feel and variety. I also enjoy perusing the many cigar shops locally in the southeastern Michigan area for a cigar that might pique my interest and it's relaxing. Now some might say I just replaced one habit with another but with cigars, I can smoke one or two one day and not feel any need to have another the next day or the day after that or the day after that.
So, if I haven't bored you to tears with all of that. What I want this blog to be about is cigars and the quest for good cigars at affordable prices and how to go about getting them as well as some reviews of the cigars I find along the way. I will seek out the best cigars I can get at the best price I can get them for and share my experiences with you here. See, it;s like this...I have found that when it comes to cigars, generally speaking, you get what you pay for and while I like a good Cohiba or Gurkha or Monte Cristo......I can't afford them on a regular basis. So what I will be doing is searching out cigars that I like and that I can get at a good price by any means possible whether is't a local emporium, an internet store or an auction site. So visit often and feel free to put in your two cents.
